This semi-biographical tell all brings to light the strength, unity, and powerful impact that writing can have on the recovery process. It is set during a time when there were only about two hundred NA meetings worldwide. The work on the Basic Text began at the World Service Conference (WSC), where thousands of members of the worldwide fellowship united with a shared goal. The World Literature Conference of 1979 held in Wichita, Kansas, resulted in the creation and approval of the Handbook for NA Recovery.  Bo S. served as World Lit Chair and shares a comprehensive blueprint of how The Basic Text came to be, offering an intimate view of how writing supports the recovery of the NA Fellowship and its members.
